Melissa Hoyer

Media, Speaker

overview
Melissa Hoyer is one of Australia’s most respected lifestyle commentators, opinion writers, speakers, and editors, and has made a significant contribution in delivering quality, down-to-earth material to the Australian news and pop culture landscape.

Starting her career in the world of publicity and PR, no one knows those worlds as much as she does in the ever-evolving media landscape.

Melissa has maintained incredible relationships with some of the world’s leaders in pop culture, lifestyle, travel, fashion names and has participated in some of the biggest media events of her era.
As the fashion and social editor for the Daily & Sunday Telegraph for over 20 years, she cut her teeth in newspaper land, travelled endlessly (& still loves to!) before starting her own business in 2008, simply titled Melissa Hoyer.

Melissa is currently an editor-at-large for news.com.au and travel editor-at-large for delicious.travel. She is a contributor to vogue.com.au, GQ, Vogue Living, a freelancer for The Robb Report; and an interiors columnist for The Wentworth Courier. On television Melissa is a regular commentator for Channel 7’s Sunrise & The Morning Show.

Melissa was the editor-in-chief of Rouge magazine - the first Australian magazine created by Proctor & Gamble as well as the co-host and executive producer of Australia’s first TV fashion series, Fox Fashion, on Foxtel, working with the network for 10 years.

Melissa segued from ‘traditional’ media before ‘digital’ became the mega mountain it has today. Having mastered the nuances of social media, Melissa now provides services as a social media consultant, along with media and public speaking training.

An accomplished MC and public speaker, Melissa has hosted hundreds of events, including the Australian Fashion Laureate; Melbourne and Brisbane Fashion Festival’s, Swisse roundtable discussions and the annual Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation Fundraiser.

For her work as a public speaker, Melissa has been engaged by a diverse range of media and corporate clients, including Westfield, AMP Capital, MYER, Coles, Wella, Clairol, Max Factor, and Proctor & Gamble.

Melissa is a single mum to one son and supports numerous not-for-profit charities, including The Wesley Mission, Dress for Success, the Sydney Children’s Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Women; breast and ovarian cancer charities; the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation and kids mental health NFP, Reach Out.
